Dear Friend in Medicine,
Creating value for our members; that’s one of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians (NAFP) and Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Foundation’s top priorities. We certainly have found it to be true, and hope you have too. Did you know that in the last year our Adopt-A-Student Program has helped us provide over $17,000 worth of value to our Nebraska family medicine resident and medical student members!
As Acting Chair of the Membership Committee and President of the NAFP Foundation, we’re writing to ask you to donate to the Adopt-A-Student Program so we can continue to create such value for our resident and medical student members. Your $100 donation is tax-deductible, and we can guarantee it will be used in full to support programs for Nebraska’s family medicine residents and medical students.
The Adopt-A-Student program directly funds: UNMC and Creighton medical schools’ Family Medicine Interest Groups; National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, Fay Smith, Michael Haller, and Medical Mission scholarships; student and resident research activities through the annual poster presentations and UNMC Rural Poster Contest; and meals and stipends to attend our annual and fall meetings so that registration may remain free of charge. Though, most importantly, this program fosters exposure and general interest in family medicine to all Nebraska family medicine residency programs and medical schools.
The opportunities created by this program for the residents and students to network with NAFP members are invaluable. Your support last year raised $2,425. The success of this program helps continue the efforts of generating interest in family medicine as we face the workforce crisis of training an adequate number of family physicians to serve across Nebraska.
