GOVERNOR SIGNS LB 396

Governor Dave Heineman signed LB 396 in April, 2009.  LB 396 was introduced by Senator Mike Gloor during the 2009 session, adopting the Medical Home Pilot Program Act.  Drs. Thomas Werner, Grand Island and Robert Wergin, Milford have been appointed by the Governor to the Medical Home Pilot Project Council.  This advisory committee consists of two family physicians, two general internists, two pediatricians, and a representative from a hospital or health plan.  An organizational meeting will be held by the council prior to October 31, 2009.  This bill will create a Medicaid medical home pilot project in a medium-sized city in Nebraska.

Dr. Robert Rauner, NAFP President, organized several meetings with NAFP officers and members to work on the medical home efforts.  Meetings were held in September with key people from insurance companies, health systems, legislative & government agencies; Dr. Paul Grundy, IBM, also attended.
