Medicare Cuts? Bah! No Need to Panic

The first step is to not panic.

This may sound crazy, but if the government is not going to fix the sustainable growth rate formula and consequently allows reimbursements to drop by 21.2%, this may actually be better than a lesser cut of, say, 5% or 6%.

A 21.2% cut is extremely dramatic. As Newton's Third Law of Motion notes: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If there is an extremely dramatic cut, there will be an extremely dramatic reaction. I'd rather see a 21% cut in 1 year than a 5% or 6% cut each year over 4 years. More
