The nomination letters described Dr. Hoelting as having qualities of generosity, dedicated to his medical practice, patients, and community, and compassion that has no boundaries or limits.

Comments from nomination letters include:  "He has the most generous spirit!  If anyone is in need, he will be one of the first (if not the first) to step forward and help out.  His compassion has no boundaries or limits.  He is the first to lend a helping hand no matter the task -- ambulating a patient, moving equipment or taking out the trash.  Dr. Hoelting is extremely supportive of his community -- 'no' is simply not a word in his vocabulary when it comes to supporting his community with his time or monetary donations."
