2009 FAMILY PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR
At a ceremony in the Capitol August 12, 2009, Governor Dave Heineman presented Dr. Van Vahle with the 2009 Family Physician of the Year Award.
Governor Heineman also proclaimed August as Family Health Month.
Dr. Vahle has been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians/Nebraska Chapter since 1975 and has practiced in Seward for over 38 years.
Dr. Vahle's outside interests revolve around family, community and the United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, the Building Committee and the choir. Dr. Vahle also served as co-chair for the campaigns to build the Seward Family Medical Center and the Seward Memorial Library, and is active on a number of local committees.
We congratulate Dr. Vahle on his many accomplishments as we recognize him as the 2009 Nebraska Family Physician of the Year! As the 2009 Nebraska Family Physician of the Year, Dr. Vahle becomes a candidate for the 2011 AAFP's Family Physician of the Year Award.
