The Phyllis G. Hansen Merit Award
The Phyllis G. Hansen Merit Award is presented by the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians to an individual who has contributed significantly to the Academy and/or who has made an outstanding contribution to further the goals of Family Practice as a specialty.
DeRoin Scholarship Award
William A. DeRoin, MD, was instrumental in forming the family practice clubs and very active in the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians. The DeRoin Scholarship created in his memory is presented annually to a Nebraska native attending either Creighton University Medical School or the University of Nebraska Medical Schools who: 1) demonstrates financial need and 2) has a strong interest in Family Practice.
The NAFP Foundation Medical Mission Trip Educational Grant
The Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Foundation has available one education grant of $500 for Medical Mission Trips.
The grants have been instituted to defray expenses of medical students participating in medical mission trips as a part of their medical educational experience.
The grants are available to Nebraska medical students interested in careers in family practice.

Don Larson, MD Resident Scholarship
Dr. Don Larson was a valued member and Past President of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians. He was an acclaimed teacher of family medicine graduate education and served as program director of the Lincoln Family Practice Program from 1988-1995 (now known as Lincoln Family Medicine Program).
This scholarship was created in Dr. Larson's memory and will be presented annually to a resident who is interested in family medicine in rural practice.
