Stuart P. Embury, MD, Family Medicine Scholarship for Medical Students

The Stuart P. Embury, MD, Family Medicine Scholarship has been made possible by a generous donation by Dr. Stuart Embury and his wife Lynn.

Dr. Stuart Embury graduated from UNMC in 1969. He interned at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. In 1970, Dr. Embury, his wife Lynn, and infant daughter Amy moved to Holdrege, Nebraska where Dr. Embury joined Dr. Robert C. Anderson at the Family Medical Clinic. In 1974, Dr. Embury joined the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians. A few years later he became editor of the Cornhusker Family Physician. It was at this time that he began writing his Musings of a Physician quarterly column.

During his tenure at the NAFP he served in many positions including president. He was Family Physician of the Year and was selected for the American Academy of Family Physicians Humanitarian Award for his work providing medical care to Haiti. He retired from Family Practice after 50 years in 2020 and continues to enjoy life in Holdrege.
