Medical Mission Trip Scholarship for Medical Students

The Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Foundation will award an educational grant to help defray expenses for a medical student participating in a medical mission trip as a part of his/her medical educational experience.

This $500 scholarship will be presented to one (1) medical student award winner at the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians DeRoin Memorial Luncheon on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in conjunction with the 76th Annual Meeting and Scientific Assembly at the Younes Conference Center North in Kearney, NE. The winner will be selected by the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Foundation scholarship selection committee and must be present to accept the award. The student who receives this scholarship will be expected to write a brief report of the educational experience and submit it to the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians Foundation office within one month following the trip. Reports will be submitted by the Foundation to the Cornhusker Family Physician magazine for consideration and inclusion in the magazine.

Criteria:

  • NAFP Member
  • Member of Family Medicine Interest Group at your school
  • Current medical student in Nebraska
  • Strong interest in Family Medicine
  • Letter of recommendation from the Family Medicine Interest Group adviser, a Family Physician member of the mission team, or the chair of the Family Medicine department at the medical school.
